The usual? Il Solito? Our regulars are not even asked what they want. Our baristas can prepare a few orders at a time, so no need to worry. Have a brioche, or a "Cornetto". Croissant and Cappuccino is the most popular Italian breakfast. But we don’t mind if you opt for the real Pain au Chocolat, or perhaps a Danish. Scone lovers are also very welcome.
Cappuccino has taken the world by storm, but sadly what you find around is often a travesty of the real thing. A cappuccino should be a shot of freshly made espresso, a little milk heated through from cold and a judicious dusting of cocoa, if you insist. No more, no less. The milk must form a thick, substantial cream on top of the coffee - it is not a froth. We recommend the typical Italian size cappuccino, not those giant mugs that are really soup bowls. 16oz cappuccinos contain almost a half a litre of milk!
This annual guide provides a comprehensive review of espresso bars throughout Italy.
